What makes Táche healthier than other alternative milks?
Let's compare Táche to the other creamy favorite, oat milk. Unlike most oat milk options, we add absolutely no vegetable or canola oil to our alt-milks. Why this is important? Just one serving size of oat milk with rapeseed (i.e. canola oil) is the equivalent of ingesting about the same amount of oil used for frying a medium order of fries. Yikes. These oils are highly processed and have been linked to a wide variety of serious health issues.
On average, Táche has significantly less calories, carbs and sugar than most oat milk options, as well.
Does Táche steam and froth well?
Baristas are our BFFs. From the onset, we formulated Táche to play exceptionally well with coffee. It was imperative to us that we created a plant-based milk that steamed well, had no grittiness, or weird separation when added to coffee and matcha beverages.
How long will my Táche stay good?
Unopened Táche is good for 12 months! Once opened, Táche is good for at least 10 days. After 12 days the flavor might start to dissipate a bit, but still perfectly safe to drink.
Does Táche need to be refrigerated?
When your Táche arrives, place the cartons you plan to drink soon in the fridge. The rest of your cartons don’t need to be refrigerated and can be stored anywhere that doesn’t get above 88 degrees or below freezing. Pantry, garage, office... you get it.
Can I use Táche to bake?
100%. You can substitute Táche for dairy milk or half and half in a myriad of recipes from banana bread to cake to French toast. We’ve even used it in mac ‘n cheese, soups, and mashed potatoes.
What do you mean by "better for the environment"?
Glad you asked! Firstly, compared to dairy milk, all plant-based milk options are more environmentally friendly when it comes to water use, land use, and greenhouse gas emissions. It's good to keep that mind when comparing plant based alt-milks. UNESCO's Institute for Water Education report found that pistachios require significantly less water compared to almonds. The report found that almond trees water footprint is almost 4x larger than that of pistachios trees (25.5 gallons/oz for pistachios versus 97.2 gallons/oz for almonds). Based on UNESCO's research, pistachios reduced water usage makes them a more environmentally friendly option.
